Facile Hydrothermal Synthesis of Tellurium Nanostructures for Solar Cells
Authors
Abstract:
Tellurium (Te) nanostructures have been successfully synthesized via a simple hydrothermal methodfrom the reaction of a TeCl4 aqueous solution with thioglycolic acid (TGA) as a reductant. TGA can be easily oxidized to the corresponding disulfide [SCH2CO2H]2, which in turn can reduce TeCl4 to Te. The obtained Te was characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, and DRS. The effect of reducing agent on morphology and size of the products were also studied. Additionally, Te thin film was deposited on the FTO-TiO2 by Dr- blading then employed to solar cell application and measured open circuit voltage (Voc), short circuit current (Isc), and fill factor (FF) were determined as well. The studies showed that particle morphology and sizes play crucial role on solar cell efficiencies.

full textA Facile Solvothermal Method for Synthesis of CuInS2 Nanostructures
CuInS2 nanostructures were synthesized via a simple surfactant-free solvothermal route. In this synthesis, thiosemicarbazide and thioglycolic acid were used as sulfur sources. The effects of different parameters such as type of precursor and time on the morphology and particle size of the samples have been investigated. The nanostructures were characterized by means ...

NiCr2O4 normal spinel nanostructures were prepared via hydrothermal treatment at 180 °C for 12 h in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and poly vinylpyrrolidone-25000 (PVP-25000) as capping agents and subsequent calcination process at 500 °C for 3 h . In this method, [Ni(en)2(H2O)...
full textFacile synthesis of BiCuOS by hydrothermal methods.
BiCuOS, which is isostructural to the layered rare-earth oxysulfides LnCuOS (Ln = La-Eu), was synthesized by a single-step hydrothermal reaction at low temperature (250 degrees C) and pressure (<20 atm). Particular emphasis is placed on how the selection of the proper reaction conditions, such as temperature and pH, achieves a mutual high solubility of the metal-oxide reactants, Bi2O3 and Cu2O,...

Zinc oxide (ZnO) powders were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal process in the temperature range of 50 to 100 C. Nanocrystallites were formed by a simple hydrothermal route from aqueous solutions of zinc nitrate hexahydrate (Zn(NO3)2·6H2O) and NaOH under controlled process conditions such as precursor concentration (0.07 to 1 mol/L), reaction pH (7 to 11) and temperatures. Single phase ZnO p...
full textMetallic copper nanostructures synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method.
A facile hydrothermal route has been developed for the synthesis of nearly spherical copper nanoparticles, copper nanocubes and ribbon-like network nanostructures. The as-prepared copper nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), and...
